Modern Snake refreshes the classic Snake formula with three lives, timed bonus food, progressive speed, mouse and keyboard controls, mobile swipe controls and a persistent local leaderboard.
Runs directly in modern browsers on Windows, macOS, Android, iPhone/iPad and other modern devices. On supported browsers and devices, it can also be installed as a web app (PWA). After the first successful load, the game can reopen with its core functionality without an internet connection. Game progress, language, sound, fullscreen and control preferences are stored locally in your browser. No Apps & Games account is required.
Eat the golden food to grow the snake and collect points while avoiding the walls and your own body. You start with three lives, so one collision does not end the whole game. The speed gradually increases as your level rises.
Select Mouse or Keyboard + Mouse in the game. Click the board once to activate Pointer Lock. The normal cursor disappears and the highlighted snake head becomes your visual reference. Move the mouse left, right, up or down to turn the snake. Press Esc whenever you want to release the mouse cursor.
